Tobacco-Free Life Pledge on No Smoking Day

On the occasion of No Smoking Day, Sharda University, Agra organized an awareness program under the National Tobacco Control Programme, following the directions of the Regional Higher Education Officer, Agra. During the event, students, faculty members, and staff were made aware of the harmful effects of tobacco and smoking and were administered a pledge to lead a tobacco-free life.

During the program, students were informed that tobacco consumption is a major cause of serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and lung disorders. The university administration also appealed to everyone to cooperate in keeping the campus completely smoke-free. Students were encouraged to stay away from addiction and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jayanti Ranjan stated that youth are the future of the nation and should adopt healthy habits. She emphasized that tobacco consumption is not only harmful to individual health but also poses a serious challenge to society. She urged everyone to come forward and contribute to building a tobacco-free society.

Deputy Registrar Dr. Praveen Kumar Tiwari said that the university administration is continuously making efforts to maintain a tobacco-free campus. He appealed to students to refrain from consuming tobacco and to spread awareness about its harmful effects among others.

Dean of Students Welfare Dr. Vasundhara Saxena highlighted that the university regularly organizes such awareness programs to keep youth away from addiction. She added that a healthy body and positive thinking help young people move forward on the path to success.

At the end of the program, all students and attendees collectively pledged to contribute toward building a tobacco-free society.
