About

Dr. Avneet Kumar is a scholar of Indo-Pacific geopolitics and maritime security, with over 15 years of operational experience in the Indian Navy and more than three years in academia, offering a distinctive practitioner–academic perspective on Government Policies and Analysis, International Relations, Strategic Studies, and Defence Policies.

Dr. Avneet holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Dayalbagh University, Agra, and M.A. from Indira Gandhi National Open University New Delhi. He also qualified NET, JRF, and SRF and have published many research papers on Indo-Pacific affairs, maritime strategy, Indias evolving strategic posture and other domains of International Relations. 

His research lies at the intersection of Indo-Pacific strategy, maritime geopolitics, and regional security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). He actively engaged with key issues such as sea-lane security, Indias role as a net security provider, strategic competition in the Indo-Pacific, and Indias partnerships with island and littoral states. His contributory works aims to contribute not only to academic discourse but also to policy-oriented debates by connecting theoretical frameworks with grounded strategic realities. Dr. Avneet is particularly interested in academic collaborations, policy research, and engagements with think tanks, defence institutions, and international scholars working on Indo-Pacific security, maritime governance, and strategic affairs. He is also an Editorial Boards member of Indian Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (IJHSS) and a Reviewer of South Asian Journal of Social Sciences. Furthermore, Dr. Avneet is also actively engaged with National Maritime Foundation New Delhi, a think tank as a life time member.

In his academic role, he teaches Political Science and International Relations, with a focus on Comparative Politics, global security, and defence studies. He adopt an interdisciplinary and application-oriented pedagogy, integrating case-based learning, geopolitical analysis, and insights drawn from his naval experience to make complex strategic concepts accessible and relevant for students. As an Assistance Professor he is holding many portfolios in the university including Programme coordinator Political Science, departmental Exam and IQAC coordinator. He is also an active member of university Unfair means committee. Dr. Avneet also holding the position of NSS officer  of University.
