About Department

The Department of Environmental Science is one among the pioneer departments of the University established in 2024. With increasing popularity and need in present time for environmental experts the department is currently offering three-year B.Sc. Environmental Science in which number of research scholars are currently enrolled. The programmes are designed to provide best academic, research and industrial training to enhance the skills and to enable the students to compete for the job opportunities.

The inter- and trans- disciplinary research are the core strength of the department to address local to global issues and focus on sustainable solutions for conserving the environment and human health. The department has highly experienced, motivated faculty trained at national and international universities. The department has state-of-the-art research laboratories(Environmental analytical lab, Water resources lab, Environmental biology lab, Environmental Microbiology and biotechnology lab, Air pollution lab, EIA, Biostatistics and Computer lab) equipped with high end instruments like Respirable Dust Sampler, High Volume Sampler, Heavy Metal Analysis Sampler, Gaseous Sampler, BOD Incubator etc. The department strives to render community outreach through capacity building and environmental awareness programmes. 

Students are also offered internship opportunities within the department and the department also promotes field-based research, participation in conferences, workshops and seminars.

The thrust areas of research include air pollution, heavy metal studies, solid waste management biodiversity, water pollution, waste water management, nanotechnology, geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing, solid waste management, soil pollution for pesticides and heavy metals and bioremediation (including phytoremediation and rhizoremediation).

The vision of the Department of Environmental Science is to produce educated community who will ensure clean, safe, secured and sustainable environment for all.

Mission: 

1. Equipping students with the knowledge to environmental problem and their conservation.
2. Conducting need-based research on contemporary environmental issues and producing scholarly works in the field of environmental science.
3. Organizing national and international events (e.g. conferences/workshops/seminars/symposiums/training programs).
4. Creating public awareness on natural resources; and past, present and future environmental constraints on Earth.
