World Environment Day 2026 Celebrated

Sharda University Agra, in association with the 2 UP Battalion NCC, Agra, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm at the Universitys Herbal Garden. The event was organized under the theme ""One Action Today, A Greener Tomorrow" emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.

The programme commenced with a tree plantation drive, where university dignitaries, NCC cadets, faculty members, staff and students actively participated by planting saplings within the campus. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective responsibility towards preserving nature for future generations.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Parma Nand, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor (Offg.), Sharda University Agra, highlighted the significance of environmental stewardship and urged the university community to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. He emphasized that every individual should contribute to creating a greener and healthier planet through small but meaningful actions.

The event also featured an interactive talk focusing on environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and the role of youth in protecting natural resources. In their addresses to the gathering Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Mishra, Registrar and Prof.(Dr.) Satya Prakash, Offg.) Dean Academics encouraged participants to become ambassadors of environmental awareness and actively engage in initiatives that support ecological balance.

Dr. Vasundhara Saxena, Incharge Dean Students Welfare and Convener of the programme, expressed gratitude to the NCC unit, faculty members, students, and staff for their active participation. She reiterated the university's commitment to fostering environmental consciousness through regular awareness campaigns and sustainability-driven activities.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Kapil Kumar Attri, Sports Officer, and Ms. Anandita Chauhan, Assistant Manager, Student Welfare whose efforts ensured the successful conduct of the event.

The celebration concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to protect the environment, conserve natural resources, and contribute towards building a sustainable future.
